This is a practical, lively and interactive course that explores fresh trends in English, provides opportunities for language development and practice and presents practical ideas and techniques for teaching language.  You will learn up-to-date idiomatic and colloquial English, explore how the current cultural climate is affecting English and be more aware of recent changes in English pronunciation and grammar. You will also experience a variety of effective teaching strategies, activities and techniques that you can use with your own students in your own classroom.

25 hours per two week course

All Bell Teacher courses are delivered by highly experienced teacher trainers. The team includes a whole host of leading ELT experts and published educational authors.

Topics covered on Enrich your English include:

  • How English is affected by the cultural climate
  • Language, gender and political correctness
  • Lexical change and development: where new words come from, how they are formed and the latest neologisms
  • Grammar change and the implications for teaching  
  • The effect of new technology and social media on language use
  • Slang, contemporary phrasal verbs and idioms 
  • Pronunciation: from RP to the English in the 21st century; both in the UK and internationally
  • Exploiting the newest authentic materials for learning activities 

Topics can be adapted depending on participants’ professional needs, priorities, and teaching context.


In addition to the core development course, teachers will have 10 hours of workshops and cultural talks led by our expert teacher trainers.
