  • Move onto Module Three and complete your Delta

Course description

The Delta (Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other languages) is a globally-recognised, advanced qualification for experienced English language teachers. It combines practical teaching elements with a strong theoretical background. There are three modules you must pass to be Delta qualified and it is recommended you begin with Module One.

  • Module One: Understanding language, methodology and resources
  • Module Two: Developing professional practice
  • Module Three: choose between Extending Practice and ELT Specialism or English Language Teaching Management.

You must pass all three modules to be Delta qualified, but there is no time limit for completing all three modules, so you can work at your own pace. The modules are booked and paid for individually, so this can be spread out too. Even if you have completed a module with another school, you can still study with Bell for your remaining modules. All modules are accredited by Cambridge English, part of the University of Cambridge.

Course programme

Module 2: Developing professional practice

  • Focusing on awareness and expertise in professional practice in a range of contexts
  • Assessed teaching practice
  • Possibility of focusing on specialist teaching (e.g. Business English students or Young learners)

  • Online Study Guides, focusing on key topics. These guides help you look at theoretical and practical issues and relate them to your own lesson planning and teaching. You will be supported by a Bell Online Personal Tutor (OPT) who will provide private detailed one-to-one feedback.
  • Online discussion and study group focused on a series of practical topics
  • Intensive guidance towards the requirements of the practical teaching assignments by local face-to-face tutor (RDT)

You will also need to nominate a suitable Regional Delta Tutor (RDT) (e.g. a senior staff member or someone with training experience). As long as we approve this person, we pay them for this work and give them a full induction to support you. Please note that it is the responsibility of the candidate to find a suitable RDT and make sure that they can tutor for the duration of the course.
