Our Science & Engineering University Foundation programme combines specialist language learning and academic skills development around key disciplines like physics, chemistry, biology and mechanics, with impartial university advice and guidance from our experienced academic team.

It will give you the tools you need to not only get into university, but to achieve great success in your degree once you get there.

On this course, you will:

  • Improve your subject-level knowledge and understanding to NQF Level 3 (UK National Qualifications Framework)
  • Become a confident English language communicator (to at least B2 or IELTS 5.5)

SUBJECT MODULES

Understand how science works

Your modules will develop a solid foundation of understanding and knowledge in your chosen discipline, and you can select up to three modules in the following areas:

  • Physics OR Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics

You will also have the opportunity to gain valuable practical skills in our fully equipped on-campus laboratory to support your skill development.

Develop your skills toolkit

Study skills
You will develop advanced study skills to help you perform your best when asked to complete tasks, assignments and exams at university. These may also be different to skills you have learned in your own country, so we will support you to learn, practise and master how to gain high marks at university-level.

Preparing for IELTS
Our teachers have extensive experience with IELTS exams. You will get intensive preparation for your IELTS so you can successfully achieve your desired score (at least 5.5) and get entry to your degree programme at university.

SUBJECT MODULE 1

Physics

Gain a comprehensive overview of fundamental and applied physics through classroom-based teaching of theory, problem-solving seminars and laboratory-based practicals. You will have numerous opportunities to link theory to reality.

SUBJECT MODULE 1

Biology

Understand life processes and how organisms interact in our surrounding environment. Explore themes like molecular biology, environmental organisms or genetics and biodiversity.

SUBJECT MODULE 2

Chemistry

Learn the fundamentals of organic, physical and inorganic chemistry. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills through classroom-based teaching, problem-solving seminars and laboratory-based practicals.

SUBJECT MODULE 3

Mathematics

Build a strong understanding of the language and concepts used in mathematics. Learn to analyse and interpret data to tackle complex mathematical problems and learn to gather information from a variety of sources to support research, analysis and evaluation.
