Bell Garden House is a guaranteed home-away-from home experience.

Located on campus within the Bell grounds, in full view of Bell Cambridge, it is a perfect option for students who want something more peaceful and quiet, so they can relax after a full day of studying or to concentrate on their homework.

The house is seconds away from your classes, so there is no travel time to get to school. It also means you can take full advantage of the resources and services available at the school, including the Learning Resource Centre, computer rooms, or our Learning in Action activity programme.

The Frank Bell Residence

Opened in September 2019, The Frank Bell Residence is ideally located on our Bell Cambridge campus. The house itself was once home to our founder Frank Bell. Since then it has been used as offices and meeting rooms, but has now been completely renovated into a fully-equipped, contemporary student residence.

It has 17 bedrooms – each with a bed, desk, chair, lamps and wardrobe – all have private bathroom facilities and access to a shared kitchen and social area which opens out on to our extensive Bell gardens.

Sorrento Residence

Sorrento Residence is part of the friendly, family-run hotel complex conveniently located between Bell and the city centre. This comfortable accommodation is suitable for students of all ages, from 16+ to more mature students. It has access to the facilities of the hotel next door, which include a 24-hour reception and free daily English breakfast buffet.

The residence is located close to Cambridge Leisure Park, which has excellent cafes, bars, restaurants and entertainment such as bowling and an IMAX cinema. The hotel also has a very popular in-house Italian restaurant (if you don’t want to cook!).

Scholars House

Scholars House is our dedicated under 18s residence, offering individual bedrooms with private bathrooms. The residence is located close to independent shops, cafes, restaurants and large parks where you can enjoy some peace and quiet, or play sports and games.

You will have access to your own dining room, Kirby’s restaurant, where you can enjoy wholesome, delicious meals with your friends before or after class. There is a well-equipped common room, providing space to socialise and relax. The residence is staffed 24/7 as extra supervision for our younger adult students.

The Railyard Cambridge, a newly built student accommodation in Cambridge is on Station Road and a short walk from Cambridge’s City Centre. You will be able to enjoy a whole range of modern amenities like a gym, bike storage, games room and a common lounge at The Railyard.

St Barnabas Place is centrally located, close to Cambridge Train Station and just a short walk from the City Centre. The Dining Hall serves delicious and nutritious meals, catering to Bell students Monday to Friday.

There are single and twin rooms available at St Barnabas, all with private bathrooms. Breakfast and dinner are provided Monday-Friday, but there is no catering at the weekend.

Homestay

CAMBRIDGE

Staying with a local homestay host is a great way to experience British life, and provide an opportunity to practise your English outside of the classroom. In homestay accommodation, students have their own single bedroom (twin rooms may also be available on request).

All our homestay hosts are carefully selected and visited regularly to ensure consistently high standards. Many of our host families have been working with us for a number of years.

Please note that from time to time, we may use a third party homestay provider to help us source the best homestay for our students. Hosts International meets the standards for registration with the British Council as a provider of homestay accommodation for adults (18+) and under 18s, for accredited providers across the UK.

TRAVELLING TO CAMBRIDGE

BY COACH

Travelling by coach will often save you money, but it’s important to know that the journey time may be longer. The largest British coach operator is National Express, which runs regular coaches from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton airports to Cambridge city centre.

TRAVELLING TO CAMBRIDGE

BY TRAIN

Travelling by train can be a relaxing and scenic way to travel, and it can make your trip feel more adventurous. The rail network in the UK is a reliable and efficient system that can get you to Cambridge in about an hour. If you are arriving by Eurostar, you can walk from St Pancras International to London Kings Cross (which is only a 5-minute walk) and travel by train to Cambridge.

TRAVEL BY BUS

The bus stop closest to Bell is Addenbrooke’s Hospital and there is a regular service to the city centre. You can buy a weekly Megarider ticket for approximately £15 from the bus driver, and you can use it as many times as you want on any Citi bus for 7 days. Bus timetables are available at the school, and our student services team are here to help if you have any other questions.

TRAVELLING AROUND CAMBRIDGE

TRAVEL BY BICYCLE

Cambridge is known as the ‘city of cycling’ as many of its residents choose to cycle around the city. If you are studying for a short amount of time, you can easily hire a bike from Rutland Cycling.
However, if you are staying for a long course, it may be cheaper to purchase a bike, either second hand or brand new from shops like: Cycle King, and Giant Cambridge. Just remember to always wear a helmet, use a good quality lock, and never buy second-hand until you have seen the bike.
